From Fortune, based on data from the 2010 Census: DC has more single-occupant households than any other major US city. DC’s 48% of households is even higher than Manhattan’s 46%.
Are you the 48%?

Continuing with our “Good Samaritan” theme, I now provide you with a means by which you may become said Samaritan. Behold: the WaPo giving map. This handy application maps out charities in the DC area and sorts them by type. The list includes everything from homeless shelters, to non-profits for the arts, to religious charities. So, in the spirit of the season, take a look at the map and find a place in your area that you’re willing to give time or money to. Make someone’s holiday better.

BE STILL MY BEATING HEART, while I introduce to you the best thing I’ve seen in a long while: The DC Beer Map. I just spotted this glorious thing on Young & Hungry and could not contain myself.
Let’s review: It is a map. Of beer. With color coding, and ratings. Ah! It is beer-loving type-A heaven.
The incredibly useful map notes area brewery’s, bars, beer stores, and even homebrew stores all marked on a google map of our fine city. Click on a marker, and the map will tell you what it is, the address, the phone number, show you a picture, and let you read reviews. Oh mai gawd, I just can’t handle the happiness this is causing me. It also works in reverse, click the name of the bar you want to know more about, and the map will zoom to show you the location and profile. It’s like Yelp, but drunk. And I’m in love.
