Marissa: August is just running away from me, and I’m doing everything I can to keep up and make the most of these fleeting summer weekends. Friday it’s time for a little jazz in the garden as the season winds down. Come Saturday, I’m taking an inaugural trip to Ray’s the Steaks for a giant steak that has had my mouth watering since Tuesday. Then Sunday afternoon, I’ll be heading out to FedEx Field for the Brothers of the Sun Tour with Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw. Cannot wait for all the country music that will be pouring into my ears!

Alexia: Friday two important events are happening, and you can go to both! First, a Solidarity Concert for Pussy Riot is happening outside of the Russian Embassy, starting at 5:15pm, featuring the music of Brenda, Mobius Strip, Sad Bones, and War on Women. Then, at 10pm Shark Week is having an EP release party, sure to be epic, at Montserrat House. Joining them for the fun will be Jeremy Teter and BROS (formerly BROADS). I suggest getting tickets in advance for this one, it’s gonna sell out. Saturday I’ll be doing some time in the recording studio, working on a fun project, but if I get out in time you may find me shaking it at Hot In Herre, a dance party at the 930 club hosted by Will Eastman, featuring jams from the 2000s.
Natalia: I’m feeling just like August is: slow. So taking the weekend at my own pace, starting with dinner at one of my all time favorites, Little Serow, which also just got a shout-out for being one of this year’s best new restaurants in the U.S. – so you know the wait is going to be looong, but I got time, yo. Saturday, I’ll head to one of the many Farmer’s Markets around the city, now that I have a tip sheet and prep a good dinner before heading to Moonrise Kingdom at E Street Cinema. Sunday, day of rest and Olympic watching.
Tom: I’m so ready for a restful weekend. We’ve got company heading our way weekend after next, so it’ll be all about preparation. Well, preparation for some good times, anyhow. BYT’s list of least douchey bars will figure into plans, almost certainly, though I would add my friends at Boundary Stone as the least douchey place in town. Though my new bike hasn’t arrived, my new goggles did, so catch me at the pool at Turkey Thicket to get in some yards. I’ve been jonesing for something new, though, so I may head to H Street to talk with the folks at the Pug about the new place they’re opening in Brookland. That is, when I’m not hoping Amazon will deliver me an assault rifle.

Mosley: This weekend begins my first vacation since last October; to say I’m looking forward to it is an understatement. Friday I’m thinking of going out and killing a roll of film (yes, it’s still out there) that’s been in my camera for a few months. Not sure where I’ll go (H Street, Georgetown, U Street), but I’ll figure it out. I’m also hoping to go to E Street Cinema to check out a midnight showing of Casablanca, one of my favs. Saturday is a sorta work day with a bunch of errands to run and a party to go to, but I wish I could get up to the AFI to catch Thunderball; Sean Connery Bond is the best! No plans for Sunday, so any ideas would be appreciated.

Huzzard: With the big Nats out of town that only opens up room to go down the road to Pfitzner Stadium to watch one of the Nats top prospects Anthony Rendon as he returns to action from an injured ankle that had him out for most of the season. Then on Sunday it will be time to get a little bit of outdoor activity myself as myself and some friends will head to a local park to play some baseball of our own. The biggest downside of this is that the next day you realize just how tough baseball is and how old your body can feel.

Fedward: now that we’ve finally activated our National Building Museum membership it’s time for some mini golf. Saturday night, weather permitting, we’ll head outdoors to catch the Perseid meteor shower. We’ll also try to make time this weekend to head to Eastern Market to look for some vintage DC postcards to use at our wedding.

Jenn: Like Alexia, I think you should head out Friday to the Solidarity Concert for Pussy Riot. It’s on target for 5:15-8pm outside the Russian Embassy with great local punk bands showing their support for the three activists awaiting sentencing. Not only is it an important issue, but the music will kick ass. So don your neon balaclava and go! After going good for others you can do good for yourself, with DC Beer Week starting this Sunday. Washington City Paper has the official calendar up with more than 180 events highlighting craft beers, including Bluejacket, 3 Stars Brewing Company, and many more. Sip, gulp, learn, go crazy. And jumping back a day, because I can’t keep anything straight these days, be a guest as artist Kathryn Cornelius gets married and divorced seven times at the Corcoran on Saturday. From 10am to 5pm, every hour will pair her with a different suitor through wedding to divorce in an exploration of, well, why the hell is there so much anxiety wrapped around modern relationships? Or maybe that’s my take on it. In any case it sounds brilliant and I can’t wait to crash at least a few of the festivities.
Patrick: While I’m not awkwardly asking girls out or talking about my embarrassing first kiss on YouTube, I’ll be interacting with some people IN REAL LIFE! This weekend will start with drinks at The Heights, which I’m excited for because it’s been forever since I’ve been to Columbia Heights. The weekend continues with brunch at Arlington Rooftop Bar where I’ll probably be judgmental about things. Saturday night gets classier with an appointment at a place I’m really excited about trying out: The Gibson (look it’s Jenn approved!) What am I doing Sunday? Who knows. Probably recovering from Saturday.

Don: I think we’re going to largely continue our trend of being boring homebodies who take the dog to the dog park, but there may be a few exceptions. If we define the weekend starting tonight there’s the We Shall Not Be Moved event tonight. Saturday is SlutwalkDC 2012 and I’m a big believer in the mission and concept. Sometimes I wonder whether it’s productive to have arguments over words but periodically people put out nonsense articles claiming we should stop using perfectly legitimate medical words and I am reminded that it still matters.
I got great vintage DC postcards from the 20-30s for my wedding on the Etsy shop burstsofcreativity !
