Bumpersticker

Bumpersticker

I caught this bumpersticker in the Courthouse parking lot as I headed into the city tonight. It reads, “Pedestrians are never allowed to impede the flow of traffic, look it up!” It seems to be lovingly hand-scrawled onto a bumpersticker blank, then adhesed carefully to his or her sport ute. All I can say is, I hate drivers, pedestrians & cyclists who have chips on their shoulder, but at least this jackhole had the courage to display it for everyone.

I live and work in the District of Columbia. I write at We Love DC, a blog I helped start, I work at Technolutionary, a company I helped start, and I’m happy doing both. I enjoy watching baseball, cooking, and gardening. I grow a mean pepper, keep a clean scorebook, and wash the dishes when I’m done. Read Why I Love DC.

  1. Agreed. I hate people who have to have a personalized license plate like everyone else. It is being different where they are all being the same.

  2. Okay! I looked it up.

    Section 46.2-924 of the Virginia Criminal and Traffic Regulations says:

    “The driver of any vehicle on a highway shall yield the right-of-way to any pedestrian crossing such a highway:

    1. At any clearly marked crosswalk, whether at mid-block or at the end of any block;
    2. At any regular pedestrian crossing, including in the prolongation of the lateral boundary lines of the adjacent sidewalk at the end of a block;
    3. At any intersection when a driver is approaching on a highway or street where the legal maximum speed does not exceed thirty-five miles per hour.”

    Wow, I really enjoyed that. Thanks for that challenge, SUV driver! I offer lessons in how to search on Google if you are interested…
