It’s been nine years since an abrupt act of terrorism took America by surprise. That day shook us but it didn’t shatter us and nearly a decade later we stand just as tall if not taller than we did before.

Today, Major League Baseball remembers the thousands of American souls who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 with Heroes Day.

As part of Heroes Day, the Washington Nationals are honoring the D.C. Fire Department and Post 911 Foundation. The Post 911 Foundation will present the Nationals with a flag that was flown at Ground Zero with a presentation of an exclusive video broadcast on HatsHD depicting a scene from nine years earlier when Decetive Miller first raised the American flag over Ground Zero just one day after the attacks.

9/11/10 Notes from Nationals Park:

  • Teddy and the Nats Park are handing out American Flags to fans outside the centerfield gate.
