Two DC Designers Debut Winter Lines

With Labor Day behind us and the autumn season officially underway, it is time to put the summer clothes away and get excited for sweaters, boots, tweeds, and the like. To help you get your cool-weather wardrobe together, two of the most-popular local lines, De*Nada and DURKL, have recently unveiled their A/W offerings.

From Virginia Blanca Arrisueño of De*Nada, we have a range of lovely handmade knits produced by artisans in Peru and inspired by Arrisueño’s own Peruvian heritage. The scarves, hats, and other cold-weather accessories for men and women showcase rich textures, interesting patterns, and lovely neutral shades. As a knitter myself, rarely caught without a scarf, the collection would already seem destined to please me – but then Virginia goes and adds pockets to a scarf, and I might be in love. I need to to see and touch the pieces in person to be sure, so it is lucky that SimplySoles is hosting a De*Nada trunk show on Friday as a part of their celebration for Fashion’s Night Out.
DURKL goes with jackets, plaid flannel shirts, and their usual printed tees in a palette of navy, dark green, and a few primary brights. The pieces are nothing new for the line, and there is less that could be dressed-up for the office in this range than the brand’s sherbert-toned summer offerings, but neither point seems likely to dissuade the many, many fans of DURKL’s casual streetwear style.
