Meet George S. Hawkins, the head of DC Water, at the company Christmas party. Now, most agency heads aren’t as cool as Hawkins is, and most of them aren’t going to break it down and do some quality dancing on the floor. Of course, even the ones that do don’t release it on YouTube the next day. Kudos, GM Hawkins! And nice moves.
Funny video, but looks like a pretty nice Christmas party for a city government agency — if my tax dollars went to pay for something like that, I would be pretty pissed!
Interestingly, Combatjag, DC Water isn’t a city agency, it’s funded by ratepayers all over the DC area.
Hi there. Tom is right, but the additional piece of info here is that we actually spent fewer ratepayer dollars on the party this year than in past years.
The vast majority of the budget for the holiday party came from our own employees — in the form of the commission we earn from vending machines at DC Water facilities.
Happy holidays, We Love DC readers!
I would also add that it’s not that hard to throw a good holiday party for staff on a reasonable budget- what’s visible in the video is that they had it in a facility with spotlights, projector, and a PA. There are several such facilities in the area and it doesn’t have to be a lavish-to-the-point-of-excess party to make use of such a think.
Wow, you see a video of some government workers enjoying themselves at a holiday party and the first thing you think is how much did it cost? What did you see that we didn’t? Did you see elaborate ice sculptures of tables featuring roast pigs or catering staff walking around with shrimp? Regardless of the running jokes, these folks work hard and need morale boosting activities just like everyone else.
I hope they had plenty of booze at this party just to be able to deal with obnoxious jerky residents like you.
Excellent beat ! I wish to apprentice while you amend your website, how could i subscribe for a blog website? The account helped me a acceptable deal. I had been a little bit acquainted of this your broadcast offered bright clear idea
