Real baseball fans know that Joey Votto deserves to win this vote, hands down. Sorry, Zim!
His performance in 2009 should have no impact on him being a 2010 All-Star. There are statistical justifications for voting for him and it’s cool to root for the local guys, but all your reasons to vote for him are awards he earned last year.
And unfortunately, Phil is right – Votto was one of the biggest snubs in recent memory for an All Star team. I cast some votes for Zimmerman, but I’ll be happy to see Votto get the recognition he deserves.
