When did June get here and what happened to May? No, these are serious questions and I need serious answers! Well, unless you were like me and got caught in the commute from hell on Friday night (3 and a half HOUR commute, which is normally 35 minutes; WTF!), it was a surprisingly good weekend. If we have more days like this during the summer, DC might actually be livable in July and August. Check out what our photographers found during the awesome weekend and keep Monday at bay for just a bit longer.  Continue reading

You want to know the best part about a long, three day weekend? A four day work week! After no three day weekends for all of March, April, and most of May (a true crime if you ask me) I’d say we earned this tiny reward. So you have my permission to slack off this week at work. And to get this slacking off started, here’s an up-sized Weekend Falshback. Enjoy! Continue reading

Just one more week until Memorial Day; we can make…I think. Why is it the week before Memorial Day always drags by, with everyone trying to work, but instead everyone has their minds on the nice, long weekend? Mysteries of the world. Anyways, take your mind off your work, or your coming vacation, and check out the photos from our skilled photographers.  Continue reading

Ugh…another Monday. And with the weather finally staying nice, it makes going back to work all the more difficult. And, of course, right afte typing that, I check the weather report and there’s a 100% chance of rain for Monday. We just can’t win on Mondays, can we? Well, let’s be happy the weather was excellent for our time off and bad for the time we spend in the office. And fear not, only two more weeks till Memorial Day weekend.  Let’s get to these awesome pictures and then start our week! Continue reading

Talk about a banner weekend for DC. Nationals go 2 for 3; Caps win the big game; DC United wins on the road; heck, even New York City got leveled in the Avengers! Everything seems to be turning up DC. We even had great weather; first hit of heat on Saturday and then a nice cool off for Sunday, and no rain. Let’s keep this going…by checking out some photos from the weekend. Enjoy!  Continue reading

If we’ve got to work this week, let’s go ahead and get it started! I’m ready for it to be Friday, as I’ve got tickets for the Friday night’s Nationals game against the Phillies. All Philly fans be on notice: we’re coming for ya! But before Friday can come, we’ve got to get through Monday (and a few other days). And we can’t have Monday without a Flashback. So here it is.

Now, on to Tuesday! Continue reading

The weekend is gone, but the feeling remains this morning. Memories of laughter, of friends, of time spent at leisure are all still close about our faces, but not yet floating away as they do by mid-week. Some solid baseball, a historic pause for remembrance, beautiful parades, and a walk through nature, these were all part of our weekends, and we’ve got the images to bring those memories close enough to touch once more.

Two for three isn’t bad! Baseball season has finally started and the Nationals are off to a really good start. I’m so excited! Oh, and I guess some other things happened this weekend: fireworks, pillow fights, and a major religious holiday. But nothing as big as the national pastime starting up for the year! But if you insist on seeing the other minor events of the weekend, pictures of them are below…and one last time: GO NATS! Continue reading

So, how was the weekend in DC? I really don’t know because I’m still out of town. Judging by the pictures below, it looked lovely; full of kites, flowers, and people. Or are the pictures deceiving? Either way it is, be sure to check out the stellar collection of weekend photos. They’ll keep the “Mondays” at bay for just a little bit longer. And if that doesn’t work, try to get through the Lost Woods of Kenilworth in the 8-bit Washington. Continue reading

Well, we can’t have perfect weather all the time, can we? And from the sound of it, Monday night is going to be cold. Not all that surprising; winter never goes down without one last fight. However, with weather like this, I’ve always thought the old saying that “March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb” is backwards.

Anyways, our loyal photographs were out in force all the same, and they got some great shots. Sit back, warm up with a hot beverage, and keep Monday morning at bay for just a little longer. Continue reading

It was one of those great weekends that make it awesome to live in DC! Whether you were running a marathon, celebrating Irish Day, avoiding the people celebrating Irish Day, admiring the cherry blossom blooming, playing on an Atari 2600 in the Kogod Courtyard, or just going for a walk with the great weather, it was simply marvelous. Our photo contributors certainly found stuff to do, so check it out below.  Continue reading

Wow! I can’t believe *ENTER MOVIE TITLE* won for *ENTER OSCAR CATEGORY*! Everyone was sure that *ENTER OTHER MOVIE TITLE* was going to win that. I guess that’s why they do the award show. Of course, *ENTER ACTOR or ACTRESS’S NAME* got a well deserved nod. You might not be able to tell, but I haven’t cared for the Oscars since Fellowship of the Ring, the superior LOTR movie, lost to that one about the crazy math guy who some how landed Jennifer Connelly. Talk about suspending disbelief. Oh well, what are you going to do; it’s the Oscars!

If you’re sick of the movie news this morning, why don’t you take a minute and check out some photos from the weekend. I promise, they are golden metal man free…though if you’re interested in seeing how some of our author’s did with their picks, check it out here. Continue reading

Well, that weekend was cold. At least slightly warmer temperatures are expected for the week. Though we do have to deal with tomorrow…or as I like to think of it, the one day out of the year I can be a complete anti-social jerk, and no one can call me on it. Whether you have a lovey-dovey date planned, or will be wearing black instead of red as a sign of protest, we still need to get through Monday. Or Budget Release Day, as those in the capital city’s largest industry are calling it. See, this week is just full of events. Let me close with a blessing: may all your budgets be large, and the cuts superficial! Continue reading

Well, exciting weekend. And after all the activity at McPherson Square and Freedom Plaza, no mere game seemed able to compete. And from the sound of it, the commercials were much, much worse than the game. I decided to read a book instead last night and can tell you that Wall still stands. I’m not sure the same can be said of the New England half of my family…

Anyways, I’m sure many of you are shaking off either too much food, or too many adult beverages from last night. To that I say, take a load off and enjoy a slice from the weekend, in photo form. I can promise you there will be no barking dogs hoking cars; or sexist ads from crappy web hosting companies; or poorly made, jingoistic commercials from Belgian owned beer conglomerates. So enjoy! Happy Lunar New Year! Welcome to the Year of the Dragon. Granted the Chinese New Year started last Monday, but the parade in Chinatown was held yesterday, so I feel it is official, official. Hope this second new year brings you all good fortune and cheer. In honor of the New Year, we have a double helping of photos from the Flickr pool. Not even counting the parade, it was a happening weekend, and it was just too hard to narrow the photos down. Enjoy! Continue reading

Please raise your hand if you hate weekend snow fall as much as I do. Talk about a waste. At least everyone who follows the Federal Government got a two hour delayed opening. The rest of us get to walk/drive through the ice the slackers never around to shoving when it was snow (personally, I’m looking at you Park Service; if I slip while walking through Franklin Park, it’s on!). Well, if you’re getting in on time, or a little later than normal, go ahead and check out some of the shots from the weekend. And stay warm out there! Continue reading
