It was a lovely weekend and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. Most of us not slaving in the retail mines will have a short workweek, do look back quickly before we’re off again.

Some of you still have your weekend going on, as yesterday’s Veterans’ Day is observed for work leave purposese today. The rest of us head back to the grind. Here’s a look back at the weekend thus far and a salute to our veterans.
A little chilly, a lot beautiful. After a rainy start it turned into a lovely, sunny weekend. With the Capitol Weather Gang giving today a projected 10 out of 10 nobody could blame you for stretching it out into today. Well, maybe your boss. So if you can’t ignore those wishes, maybe you can just reminisce a little with us.
I’m still reeling from the weekend! Between Virgin Mobile Free Fest on Saturday, Taste of DC (which is still going on today!), yesterday’s incredible day of sports history in DC, and the First on First extravaganza in Bloomingdale yesterday, I feel like I need a weekend to recover from my weekend. With today’s high only in the 50s, Fall has set in, and cool weather appears here to stay, and I need a moment longer to wake up. So, pour another cup of coffee, grab a donut, and relive this weekend in pictures!
Wow, what a weekend. Perfect weather, events galore, and the first weekend of Fall in fullest measure. Sip your coffee a little longer, and relish the memories.
What a weekend! Perfect weather, events galore, the last hurrah of a perfect summer, or the first party of an epic autumn, this weekend was full of the sort of adventures that DC needs. If you’re moving as slowly as I am this morning, click on through and enjoy all the incredible shots of our Flickr Group.
What an incredible weekend, no? Last night, I slept with the windows open, the roar of the crickets and the smell of fall approaching. The Farmers’ markets have started the switchover from summer squash to winter squash, and the start of football is here (more on that later in the morning) with its attendant wonder.
Summer was tremendous, but Fall is probably my favorite season here, so I couldn’t be happier it’s on its way. What did you get up to? We’ve got a couple shots of your weekends below the cut.
Saturday Night

The end of summer. The evenings are already dwindling, and eight at night is already a dark time in our fair city. Coming soon is sweater weather, the changing of the leaves, and football season. But we’re not there yet. Check out the photos from this weekend’s last hurrah of summer:

Well, Friday was the sendoff for our former Weekend Flashback writer, Brian Mosely. He’s headed off on a grand adventure and we’re looking forward to watching. We, and by that I mean I am not looking forward to filling his shoes here. He made this look easy! In his honor I’ve picked a few shots that relate directly to him. Above is the Iron Horse Saloon bar, where his see-ya-later shindig was on Friday. The symbolism is obvious…

A half and half weekend: half amazingly nice, but still August hot; and the other half rainy, but refreshingly cool. I told a friend that rainy days in August, like Sunday, are like 50 degree days in January; you enjoy the relief. And besides, from the look of the Flickr pool, the rainy Sunday didn’t put a damper on anyone’s weekend plans. So, without further ado, let’s start off the second to last week of summer with the Weekend Flashback! Continue reading
olympics!

The Olympics are over and that only means one thing: Shark Week begins. But seriously, clever marketing ploys in August are all well and good, we still have a week to get through. And to start off the week, here’s the Weekend Flashback. Enjoy! Continue reading
It’s August! Most of us are either on vacation or “working.” I’d say kick back and keep Monday at bay, but this month Monday is kept at bay by little work. Instead I will say: watch yourself out in that heat, be sure to stay hydrated, and, if you must do work this month, do as little as possible. To help with that, here’s the pictures in the Weekend Flashback. Enjoy! Continue reading
And then it became August. On the bright side, Congress is about to go on it’s traditional month long recess, so that means a generally lazy month for the city (and the one time of the year when they can’t mess things up). And we have the Olympics for half of the month, right? Still, I don’t know about the rest of you, but I always see summer through the eyes of a kid, and see August as the beginning of the end for summer (because school starts shortly). Well, let’s have fun with the summer we have left, starting with some great photos from the weekend. Enjoy! Continue reading

Like the pigeon above, the Nationals, and us Nats fans, balanced on the edge this weekend. Luckily, the series was split and a split series means no one moves up or down. Doubly lucky, even for those who don’t care about baseball, we got a nice cool weekend; we don’t get many of those this time of year. And the Dark Knight Rises kicked major booty (PS: if you haven’t seen, GO SEE IT)! And with that, that’s you’re weekend in brief, with the accompanying photos below. Continue reading

Here comes the heat again. At least we had a slight reprieve over the weekend, even if Sunday should have been categorized as “Venus-like” (that’s using the patented Mosley Temperature Scale). Anyways, let’s get this weekend started and do it by checking out this past weekend in photos. Enjoy! Continue reading

It was a hot one, that’s for sure. The week is supposed to be cooler; let’s hope it comes through. Strange that 80s is considered “cooler” but there it is. Anyways, check out the weekend pics from some of our great contributors. Yes, some even went outside! Continue reading
Meeting of the Minds

Derecho. Noun. A storm that really messes up weekends and forces people to spend a hot couple of days without AC. Hopefully, by this point, you have your power, internets, and what-have-you back. If not, you have our sympathy! It’s small comfort, but check out today’s flashback (hopefully in a over air conditioned office) and relax. And remember: 4th of July week means four day week!
Speak of 4th of July, remember that we’re having a We Love DC meetup for the National Fireworks. Check out that link and it will give you all the info. Come one, come all! We’ll also do what we did last year and have a fireworks roundup Friday morning. So if you get pics of any area fireworks, be sure to upload to the pool. Continue reading

For a weekend that started out with a bang, the rest of the weekend seemed quiet by comparison. Or was that because everyone’s power was out? Joking (and bad joking at that) aside, I hope you all have power now, or at least are in a office whose AC is set to arctic. Here’s the weekend flashback; there’s surprising little on the storm’s damage, so it isn’t going to be a bad one. Continue reading

What a great weekend! We don’t get many days like that in June, that’s for sure. I hope you all took advantage of weather, because it felt oh, too short. If you didn’t get out to enjoy the weekend, enjoy some nice memories from our ever diligent photogs. There’s some good ones today, and they might just keep the Monday blues away. Continue reading

First hot weekend of the summer. Let’s hope it’s a one and done; but common senses says it’s the first such weekend of many. But beyond the weather, quite the weekend for DC. The Capital Pride Parade sounded like quiet the sight, as it is every year. And the Nationals swept the Red Soxes; my family up in Massachusetts won’t hear the end of this series from me for some time. Sounds like a great weekend to me. Let’s check out some of the sights in the photos below. Continue reading
