Marissa: I look forward to three day weekends like a person on a low-carb diet looks forward to ravioli night. So much to do and see and make the most of! Saturday I’ve got plans to check out the 5th Annual Rooting DC Urban Gardening forum, since friends and I have been talking on how to best grow tomatoes and cucumbers in their backyard this summer. Hearing some good buzz about Mintwood, I’m going to try to head over there for dinner one night. Come Sunday, if the weather’s nice, I aiming to re-conquer the Billy Goat Trail.

Natalia: I have had way too many a ravioli nights so will similarly be getting up and getting active, because nothing makes a long weekend feel even longer than DC day trips. Since this winter is more of a spring, I’ll head to Harper’s Ferry for a hike, and then head Frederick to drink in the sights at Brewer’s Alley. Looks like it may rain later this weekend, so plenty of movies and tv catch-ups. At night, what better than to chill in somebody else’s home – who also happens to be an amazing chef and makes the best pumpkin curry ever. You can crash his dinner parties nightly too, at Thai X-ing.

Tom: February?! Are we sure it’s February?! It’s been a mild winter, and I’m certainly not complaining. I’ve got planting to do in my garden, starting with some greens that need to go in this weekend, which will mean I need to find some additional soil. Look for me at Frager’s Hardware for some of the needed supplies to get a cold frame built. We’re still poking around for a good breakfast place for the weekend, so we’ll probably give Flip-It a go, as we’re looking for breakfast not brunch. Sunday, we’re hosting a meet-and-greet for Kenyan McDuffie at our house, so if you’re looking to meet one of the 18 Ward 5 Council candidates, come join us!

Don: I’m going to mix some adult behavior – doing my damned taxes – with some unrepentant childhood indulgence: heading to the U St Music Hall on Saturday night to catch The Dead Milkmen. I’m going to put on my red Converse, drink some cheap beer, and shout along with Punk Rock Girl. Basically pretend like it’s [redacted] years ago and I’m 16 again. Okay, I wasn’t 16 anymore by the time Punk Rock Girl came out but Big Lizard in my Backyard isn’t as shoutable. Shut up and get off my lawn before slamdance you into a wall (and break my hip).

Mosley: I don’t have a whole lot planned for this nice, long weekend. The only thing on my calendar is a DC Social photo meetup at the Library of Congress Reading Room open house. One of only two days out of the year that the Reading Room is open to the general public, and they allow photography; I’m so there! After that, me and my photo friends will probably head down Pennsylvania Ave to Congressional Cemetery. Always an interesting and overlooked spot in the city.

Rachel: Let’s see. First things first … playing catch up with some of my best friends at the Clyde’s Race Bar on Friday. Saturday’s a busy day. We’re finally tracking the drums for my upcoming album in Arlington at Innovation Station Music. I’m pumped! Finally, I’ll round things out with a quickie brunch at Booeymonger followed by a Sunday showing of Star Wars in the theaters (and no, I don’t care if it’s The Phantom Menace, it’s still Star Wars). Since we’ve got a three-day weekend in the world of people who have federal holidays off, I’ll also be performing live at Solly’s on U Street starting at around 9 p.m. on Monday night. It’ll be a nice preview of my *big* show at Iota with The 9 on 2/28.

Fedward: the reality of planning a wedding is starting to sink in, so the Social Chair and I are devoting at least part of our three-day weekend to creating (that’d be Macy’s) and updating registries. Remember that Crate and Barrel contest we didn’t win? Relatives have already sent us gifts. Yow. We have a full set of silverware we’ve been afraid to touch since we picked the pattern in a hurry, so off we go! Other than that we’re lightly scheduled, with the possibility of joining Don for the Dead Milkmen, and plans to make the most of Monday’s day off with (wait for it) an extended brunch Sunday night at the Passenger.

Jenn: I’m terribly excited to see Laurel Hausler and Rosemary Feit Covey’s joint exhibit at Morton Fine Art this weekend. I’ve long adored both artists, whose works are equally mysterious, beautiful and audacious. The opening reception for Excavate is this Friday from 6-8pm, with both artists in attendance. Continuing the sensory overload, I’ll hit the Man Forever concert at Warehouse Theater later that night (and you know that means drinks at The Passenger afterwards) to be transported by intense drumming. After that, the rest of the weekend can be devoted to as much indolence as I can handle, with hopefully a pit stop at Blind Dog Cafe in search of the perfect pour-over.
I’m eager to read the Dead Milkmen review, I wish I could go.
