Patrick Palafox: I have trained my body to handle the awesomeness that this weekend will have and everything I know will be tested. Friday night I’m heading over to the State Theater to check out the Big “O” and Dukes show. The podcast will be recorded live and is featuring The Pietasters. Then, Saturday night I’m catching Atari Teenage Riot over at the 9:30 Club. Their digital hardcore sound will destroy the club and their anti-government rants will surely cause the Capital to rise to action to…I don’t know. Maybe make some witty signs and walk around the mall. Probably not, but still.
Rachel: I’ve been informed that on Friday night my presence is requested for a night of drinking around the Logan Circle area. My first choice would be Churchkey, however, if my friends aren’t interested in that and choose Commissary I will not be disappointed. Their hummus plate plus nachos plus drinks equals good times. I’d really like to try and make it to the Zoo Saturday for a walk since the weather is expected to be in the mid-60’s (with lows in the mid-50’s!!!!) Perhaps I’ll even bring a book too. That sounds awful relaxing, doesn’t it? On Sunday, I’ll be at Nats Park for one of the last four home games of the year. If you haven’t been to a Nats game once this season, friends, your time is running out. They’ve got three this weekend and three next weekend … and that’s it.

Tiff: I’m spending all day Saturday in a content strategy workshop cosponsored by DC Web Women (disclosure: I am on the steering committee of that fine organization) and the Society for Technical Communication. That’s right: I don’t get to think about my job enough 5 days a week, so I’m spending Saturday thinking about it, too. There are still seats left. After that I am pretty sure I will need a drink, so the question is really just whether I’m picking up Four Roses from Schneider’s on Capitol Hill or heading out to someplace like Church and State. On Sunday I’ve got to cram all my regular weekend stuff in, so it’ll be breakfast at Capital City Diner before a trip to Great Country Farms to pick up this week’s CSA share.
Mosley: Meeting up with friends for the H Street Festival on Saturday. I’ve never been, so this should be exciting. Other than that, I’ve got a big adventure/vacation to Italy coming up in two weeks, so I won’t have too much time for other things (gotta get cracking on the planning and what not). However, I will have to get my butt outside for this awesome weather I hear we’ll be having on Sunday. Seeing as I’m starting to read Clash of Kings for my upcoming vacation, this seems like a perfect storm of factors to waste a Sunday morning or afternoon outside.

Marissa: This weekend I’m due for a little R&R. I might try to swing by the H street Festival on Saturday afternoon, take in a little sunshine and live music while checking out the vendors that are there. Sunday I’ll be helping out with DC Central Kitchen/Go Venga’s Stuff the Bus tour at Clyde’s in Georgetown from 12-3 PM. You can bring non-perishable items or donate online.
Moses: While the wife is away, I’m getting my sports fix in this autumnal weather! Spending my buddy’s birthday Saturday watching college football all day at Cleveland Park Bar & Grill (upstairs deck all day, downstairs night). Sunday should be a gorgeous day for Spanish, Argentine and Chilean wines and salsa dancing at “Vintage Crystal: A Taste of Wine and Jazz” in Crystal City, before catching NFL action with Port City Oktoberfest on tap at The Big Hunt with some dejected KC Chiefs fans.

Tom: This weekend will be first weekend not working my tail off in some time, so look for me to be a man of leisure about town. Saturday is, of course, The H Street Festival, which has my favorite cause, the Baltimore Rock Opera Society doing a street show a number of times on Saturday afternoon. Very good chance I’ll be dropping in for a bier or three at Biergarten Haus. Sunday, I intend to find the very best place to root on my beloved, yet beleaguered San Francisco 49ers, though the Nationals are also facing the Marlins in one of two final, short homestands ahead of the long dark off-season. It will be cloudy with a chance of Strasmas, so I’d say watch for a good series, especially as they’ve played the Mets so well this.
Don: After spending last weekend helping a friend install flooring it’s my goal to spend this weekend doing nothing. Which I can tell you right now, I am going to fail at. For one, the weather is just too beautiful not to take advantage of. I think my darling wife and I should take a trip out to our engagement spot on Roosevelt Island if nothing else, maybe a Nats game. For another, we’re in renovation hell and the portions of our home we can still get to look like a storage unit, which is not so great for relaxation. So perhaps a little time with our friends Kate & Ed at the Passenger – not that we’ve scheduled anything, I just know I can drop in and find them there on Sunday – or a some drinks at Churchkey or Rustico.
Dejected Kansas City fans must stick together.
