Marissa: I’ll be kicking off my weekend by seeing my friend’s band, Naylor Court, play at the Velvet Lounge. Show starts at 8 pm and it’s $8 at the door for some great original music and some good covers. Friday, I’ll try to show my face at and my love for all the food trucks at Truckeroo down at Half and M St. SE. Twenty trucks, live music and it’s free to get in? Done and done. Come Sunday, I’ll be picking strawberries out at Butler’s Orchard with some friends and promptly whipping up homemade strawberry ice cream.

Mosley: I really didn’t have any grand plans for this weekend, until I got my weekly e-mail from Cultural Tourism DC.  Two things jumped out at me: Friday night is looking kind of haunting, as in a walking tour of the most Haunted House in DC.  I’ve been wanting to try this tour for a few months now.  And on Saturday, there is a fascinating program at the Textile Musuem titled “Sounds of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani Students Dance Ensemble.”  The sound portion is what interests me, as the description reads “the audience will experience lyrical sounds found nowhere else in the world’s songbook.”  Sunday…well Sunday will be where ever the road takes me.

Fedward: Friday might be a good time to head up to see my friends at Forum Theatre in BOBRAUSCHENBERGAMERICA (Forum Artistic Director Michael Dove acting This I gotta see). Saturday the Social Chair and I have plans to hang out with Don and Darling Wife, maybe with some pizza, maybe with some different pizza and beer, maybe with some beer and pizza. Or who knows? Maybe we won’t even have pizza at all! Crazy! But since it’s SAVOR weekend it seems the beer part is non-negotiable. Sunday we’ll head over to Eventide for bourbon and BBQ, and if we haven’t had too much bourbon in the process we’ll stop by the Passenger for our usual Sunday nightcap.

Tiff: My Saturday is all about the JHOSH. I’m performing, with 199 of my BFFs, in Dhoonya Dance’s annual student and performance company show at the Duke Ellington Theater, and this year the theme is all about the Indian-American experience. So I’ll be spending my entire day rehearsing, fussing at my costume, and finally performing. Sunday is all about pretending I was born a hundred years earlier: strawberry picking at Butler’s Orchard and jam-making.

Tom: With the Nationals bound for the left coast for 11 days, and work dialing back just ever-so-slightly, I’m pretty excited for what this weekend has to offer. Capitol Jazz Fest runs all weekend, and Herbie Hancock is headlining on Friday night, which is pretty awesome.  A good friend is leading a trek to Butler’s Orchard for the Thug Berry Life Festival on Saturday, and we also have the opening weekend of our CSA, Great Country Farms. Given how crazy Saturday is shaping up to be Sunday will be about relaxing. Perhaps a trip to Rustik for brunch and endless mimosas?

Brittany: This weekend starts out very strong for me, seeing one of my favorite, favorite bands, Okkervil River, at the 9:30 Club on Thursday night. I have very high hopes/expectations for that show. As for where I will be Saturday, I give you two hints: 1. My bike is in the Dutch style and cuter than I am, and 2. I love to dress up. So, yes, of course, I will be at the Seersucker Social, one of the most charming events of the summer. That affair could last all most of the day – or at least until the heat and gin catch up with me. I probably spend Sunday somewhere indoors and heavily air-conditioned.

Jenn: Choices, choices. The vintage maven in me would love to do the Seersucker Social this Saturday. Though I will dearly miss former WLDC photographer Max Cook’s annual portraiture from the event, I’m sure there will be plenty of other snaps to steal fashion ideas from. Oh yeah, plus the cool cycles! But there’s also my bellydance colleagues at Saffron Studio Saturday night, shimmying their beautiful hips at their summer gala Casbah at Georgetown’s Gonda Theater as they showcase styles from tribal to fusion to classic Oriental. Plus Synetic Theater’s opening of Don Quixote, one of my sentimental favorites. And I’ve yet to hit Marcātus, the crazy art market at the Yards Park on Sunday, featuring artists tents and fashion tents and DJs oh my! If that isn’t enough, the madness continues over at the vitaminwater uncapped LIVE space with a Friday night John L. Sullivan whiskey tasting and both an Artapoolaza live artist painting and a Record Fair Saturday afternoon and – – – sigh, ok, definitely another weekend where I have to clone myself.

Rachel: Should be a fun weekend ahead! With the Nats out of town, that means I have time for things besides baseball. Friday night I’ll be partaking in fun times at Sign of the Whale since yet another one of my friends won a happy hour there. If I can muster the strength to get out of bed the next morning/early afternoon, I may try my luck at heading to Penn Quarter to The Source for Dim Sum Saturday Brunch (which, if you’ve never tried, you need to … it’s amazing). Then, Saturday evening, I’ll be performing for around two hours at Pound the Hill coffeeshop. It’s an all ages show from 7 to 9 p.m. and I may even break out a new acoustic cover of Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” so that could get interesting fast. Sunday is up in the air right now so who knows. Maybe I’ll go see a movie in Friendship Heights. Is there anything good out right now that isn’t the Hangover 2?

Rebecca J.: Having been out of the country for the long weekend, I’m beat and will be sleeping, eating healthy food and exercising this weekend. To kick things off Friday post work, I’ll head to Los Cuates in Georgetown for some fresh gaucamole and chicken tamales, which shall be followed by an early to bed, early to rise Saturday morning for the Komen Global Race for the Cure 5K Run/Walk taking place on the National Mall. After that I’ll head to the Glover Park and Burleith Farmers’ Market to see the chef demo by Juliette Tahar featuring strawberry coulis and pick up some leafy greens for lunch and the coming work week. Saturday evening, I’ll attend “A Concert for Our Friends: Memorial for Adam Hosinski and Rory Weichbrod,” these two local 20s were struck and killed by a drunk driver while crossing Rockville Pike last year. The event, at The Bullpen across from Nationals Stadium, will raise money for their two charities: The Special Olympics and Operation Once in a Lifetime. Sunday, I’ll regain some of my long lost flexibility at SomaFit with some Power Yoga and then have a long rest in their steam room.

Well I used to say something in my profile about not quite being a “tinker, tailor, soldier, or spy” but Tom stole that for our about us page, so I guess I’ll have to find another way to express that I am a man of many interests.

Hmm, guess I just did.

My tastes run the gamut from sophomoric to Shakespeare and in my “professional” life I’ve sold things, served beer, written software, and carried heavy objects… sometimes at the same place. It’s that range of loves and activities that makes it so easy for me to love DC – we’ve got it all.
