It would seem that way.
Garret Graff commented on twitter that TBD.com seems to be tied to Politico – via physical address – and the text at TBD.com certainly would seem to indicate that this is it. “In a mixture of humor and frustration, Editor Erik Wemple began signing his emails, “Editor, TBD.com.””
Erik Wemple is the former City Paper editor who announced he’d be leaving to work on Allbritton Communications’ new website.
Allbritton being the corporate umbrella over Politico, among other media operations.
Welcome to the world, TBD.
Edit: Jim Brady confirmed via Twitter a few minutes ago.
As ridiculous as this is, I think I like it. It certainly has huge potential from a branding and viral standpoint.
But even for a social/new media addict and a real-time political junkie like me, his description of what they hope to achieve with the site scares me a little bit. Political news that gets reported in bits and pieces to the masses is a downright disaster and would achieve nothing more than a slightly higher credibility twitter feed.
I can see how they feel that instant unconfirmed news in the way of the future, but I still think we will have to have a solid line separating speculative grass roots collective journalism from the real thing.
Eh, I like Politico but I doubt the site will provide THAT MUCH new info that we don’t already know
