If you’ve been anywhere near any source of media in the last 24 hours you’ve seen or heard some coverage of the new Peeps store in National Harbor. Who knew you could support a whole store based on one marshmallow creation?
Anyway, gift bags went out to muckity-mucks during the grand opening yesterday and the National Confectioner’s Association snagged one and is giving it away. Go take a guess at how long a peep took to make back in 1953 and you might win “a Mike and Ike mug, a plush stuffed Peep Bunny and plenty of candy.”
Well I used to say something in my profile about not quite being a “tinker, tailor, soldier, or spy” but Tom stole that for our about us page, so I guess I’ll have to find another way to express that I am a man of many interests.
Hmm, guess I just did.
My tastes run the gamut from sophomoric to Shakespeare and in my “professional” life I’ve sold things, served beer, written software, and carried heavy objects… sometimes at the same place. It’s that range of loves and activities that makes it so easy for me to love DC – we’ve got it all.
Funny, I just happened to be at National Harbor yesterday and checked out the Peep Store. It’s funny because there was nothing to indicate that this was a Grand Opening. In fact there was no one in the store at all or really any sort of crowd in the whole National Harbor development.
I guess we will have to wait and see of if you can support a whole store based on the Peeps or a whole upscale development in Oxen Hill.
