holding onto fall by NCinDC
It’s that time of year again, DC. By now you’ve probably shut down your a/c, cleared the cobwebs out of your furnace, and added an extra blanket or two to your bed. There may be a few precious nights of leaving your windows open, but soon it will be too cold, especially if you’re of the female variety who gets chilly in July. You know who you are. It’s a great time to take a road trip out to Maryland or Virginia to check out the fall colors because soon a gust of wind will come along and poof – they’ll all be gone.
This week’s photo by NCinDC, a guy who appears to have enough free time to document the entire city, reminds us that the year is drawing to a close. He found a beauty of a leaf that contrasts perfectly with the cool, blue sky. The light looks like it’s coming down at a low winter angle rather than from high above as it does in the summer, and the soft wisps of clouds add the final touch to a fun, fall photo.
How about you, DC? Is this your favorite time of year or do you miss the sweltering hot days of summer already? Are you missing barbecue season or are you looking forward to staying inside to make a nice stew? Whatever your answer, the good news is that your favorite season will come along next year too.
Glad you liked the photo.
I love the color contrast, and white wisps of clouds show that its sky. Nicely done.
