I don’t know if you have any venue that you enjoy but rarely seem to get to, but for me its Jammin Java. Something about the atmosphere and casualness appeals to me, even if it’s a little stripmall-granola, but I rarely seem to go.
You couldn’t keep me away on the 26th, though, when at 7pm both Paul and Storm (formerly of DaVinci’s Notebook) and Jonathan Coulton will be performing. They’re billed as musical comedy – and maybe that’ll be the kind of thing both will be performing – but I think they’re all three quality musicians in their own right.
Not to say both acts aren’t hysterical, though. I have a slight preference for Coulton who has songs about My People (code monkey) and Re: Your Brains (what if zombie co-workers wrote memos?). Paul And Storm’s series of movie theme song re-imaginings as if written by Randy Newman (think Toy Story’s “You’ve Got A Friend In Me”) probably don’t get any better than their take on Brokeback Mountain.
